It has been a long while since I've contributed to this site, but I think I might start again. I happened to have a job for the last 5 years that did not allow much time for this type of thing, but I've recently changed to a new setting and with a schedule that allows a day off during the week- which allows for some me time that has been lacking. I'm thinking I can use this blog to help me learn to consistently eat healthy (as that has been an ongoing challenge most of my life). I was reading through previous posts when I was working toward a half marathon and all of the comments were great and supportive. I will try to add to this at least once a week (for a while at least).
Today I am writing because with my new job, I "get" to take public transportation, i.e. the bus, and while I am not yet financially able to have a personal driver, I do get a public driver. I've always preferred to be a passenger when carpooling if there is a choice. I really like not having the responsibility of driving (paying attention to the road, changing lanes, watching for cyclist, etc.) to get around my city. Today I took the bus for a non-work related reason for the first time (my employer foots half the cost of a 24/7 metro pass) and it was still great! This new approach to transit also allowed for the purchase of a nice commuter purse that I also found today (on sale). I am getting a better feel of the city that I have lived in for over 5 years and there are so many opportunities to experience more of it. This is only my second week of using public transportation and it is summer time, so my tune may change with the changing seasons, but that is yet to be seen.

| This is my new commuter bag. It will hold magazines, all the essentials, plus an umbrella and beverage container. I'm really happy with it. (I got it from Styled Life, which is an amazing store) |
